Andrew Foley (Deputy Chief and Training Officer) and Jim Wilkins joined us at this morning’s breakfast meeting.

2016-06-08 - Penndel-Middletown EMS (Jim Wilkins and Andy Foley)

The spent considerable time discussing three types of medical emergency situations with which seniors (the vast majority of our membership) are all too often confronted.  These include various types of heart attacks and strokes (both clots and hemorrhaging)  … together with warning signs someone might be experiencing one of these life-threatening events; emergency first aid (including updated CPR techniques and the use of AEDs); and risks when a victim fails to receive timely treatment.  They also touched on falls and easy things which can be done to minimize the chances of falling.

It was a tremendously interesting and informative presentation and we anticipate having them return in the fall t speak with use again!

Helping Decorate the National Veterans Cemetery for Memorial Day 2016

Alan Agree, Jerry Redington and Irv Perlstein pitched in and assisted the Guardians of the National Veterans Cemetery in Washington Crossing in planting new flag poles and raising new flags to honor those comrades in arms laid who have been laid to rest at the Cemetery.  It is one of several annual projects undertaken by the Guardians with which Club members volunteer their time.

Adopt-A-Highway Spring Clean-up

This morning, the members of the Club braved the threatening rain and picked up trash along its adopted highway on Yardley-Langhorne Road,  its participation in the State’s semi-annual “Great American Cleanup of PA” program.  While empty soda & beer cans, plastic bags & bottles and an occasional hub cap are the most visible items, the team was surprised by the hundreds of cigarette butts discarded by careless drivers along the roadway.
