At a recent meeting the Rotary Club of Shady Brook presented a check for $4000. to the Guardians of the National Cemetery. This was from the proceeds from our latest golf outing in October. Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Henry Garcia Honored
At our regular meeting on October 16, 2013, the Rotary Club of Shady Brook honored outgoing President Henry Garcia with a remembrance from our recent Golf Fund Raiser at Philmont Country Club. Donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
At our regular meeting of August 14, 2013, the Rotary Club of Shady Brook presented a check for $500. to Kirsten Sebright from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It represented 1/2 of the amount pledged by the Club for the “Light The Night” walk to be held in October. At a recent breakfast meeting the Rotary Club of Shady Brook honored their May Student of the Month, Roman Tkach, an eighth grade student at the Maple Point Middle School.

Donation of a Piano to Hope Lodge
The Rotary Club of Shady Brook will host a dinner on May 9, 2013 at the Hope Lodge located near the Fox Chase Cancer Center in NW Philadelphia.
Hope Lodge provides free lodging for the families of anyone undergoing treatment at Philadelphia area hospitals.
In addition, the Club obtained a piano donated by the Shady Brook community for use at the Lodge to provide entertainment for their guests.
On May 1st they hired a mover to transport the piano to the Lodge site and had a professional tuner set it up so it could be used immediately. The piano was originally donated to the Shady Brook community by Dotti and Mel Gelenberg, Charter Rotary Members and community residents.
