Semi-Annual Road Clean-up Along Yardley-Langhorne Road

Several Club members rose early today to help maintain a stretch of Yardley-Langhorne Road as part of the Club's participation in the Pennsyvania Department of Transportations's Adopt-A-Highway program.

Twice a year volunteers armed with gloves and heavy-duty trash bags remove the accumulated trash from the roadway and areas immediately adjacent to it.  Aside from the literally hundreds of discarded cigarette butts, discarded styroform coffee cups, plastic water bottles, beer cans and lquor bottles seem to be the items drivers find it most convenient to toss out their car windows … abandoned tires, building insulation, plastic bags and even car floor mats were among the many "treasurers" collected today.
